West Midlands Regional League Div 2
AFC Bilbrook 3 Market Drayton Town Reserves 3
(Played at Pendeford Lane)
It's been quite a while since our last visit to Pendeford Lane and how things have changed. The old changing room/coffee bar has been replaced with a new building.
The hosts drew first blood on ten minutes with a high looping cross which deceived everybody....including the goalkeeper ; this after the visitors had been looking quite comfortable. On the 30 minute mark the visitors gained just reward for some sparkling play but back came Bilbrook with two goals to take a half-time lead.
Following the break the visitors seemed to take control of the game, dominating possession for long periods and their efforts were rewarded with two pile-drivers to level the scores. This seemed to give them a second wind and they threw everything at the hosts but were unable to get a winner.
An entertaining game but the visitors will be wending their way home thinking this was two points dropped.

Wednesfield 2 Tividale 1
This was a game to distract you from the fact it was bloody freezing.
Just eight minutes had passed when the hosts were awarded a penalty which they failed to convert and within minutes the visitors were ahead and looking like they could up things by a couple of gears. The visitors however, failed to capitalise on their lead and it was the hosts who dug in and gained in confidence as the game progressed.
As we've witnessed countless times this season, the game was turned on its' head in a frantic second half as Wednesfield scored twice shock their high-flying opponents.
Wednesfield more than deserved their three points; Their absolute refusal to buckle under first-half pressure gave them the confidence to take the game to Tivi which paid off handsomely.
Just another 'typical blood and thunder local derby' which are always great to watch.

Bilston Town Community 2 Pegasus Juniors 2 Queen Street Stadium,Bilston
We often hear managers quoting 'this was a game of two halves' ; well, this one was exactly that.In the cold light of day the hosts will wonder 'how on earth did we not win this game'? Bilston were far and away the much better team in a one-sided first half where they ought to have improved on their one goal lead and the visitors were restricted to a single shot on goal. As to what happened at half-time,I can only surmise. Did the visiting manager give his players the 'Fergie' treatment ? Whatever ; it was a completely different Pegasus side that turned up for the second half(the same could be said about Bilston !). The hosts got a second goal and must have thought ' job done'. Well it wasn't, as the visitors pressed for something from the game, the home defence were slow to clear their lines and Pegasus pulled one back.Game on ! The visitors gained their due reward from some enterprising play with a second goal. From that point either side could have won it but a draw was the final result.
A great game for the neutral spectator.

Tipton Town 1 Newport Town 4
After missing a couple of weeks courtesy of the flu,the blog is back in business.
When you're playing the league- leaders and they have a goal difference of +44 and yours is -1 there's really only going to be one outcome although things didn't quite look that way on 20 minutes when Tipton took the lead. Such was the case at Tipton Sports Academy today.Newport are a good side and eventually ran out well-deserved winners. To be fair to the hosts, they gave it a right good go,having to play the entire second half with the centre-forward in goal after the regular keeper went to hospital at half-time with suspected concussion. The big difference in the two sides was Newports' forwards always looked far more threatening and but for the substitute keeper the visitors could have been looking at a bigger score.

Tipton ; Number 9
Newport ; Number 10
