Loughborough Uni win a hard-fought battle.

⚽Total Motion Midland Football League Premier Division⚽

Lye Town 1 Loughborough University 2

This week we've visited one of our favourite Black Country grounds, Lye Town.

The visitors moved themselves further away from the danger area with this thoroughly competent display against a strangely off-colour Lye side. They certainly  showed they were up for it during an impressive first-half display which culminated in a 1-0 half-time lead. I suspect strong words were dished out during the interval as the hosts looked a completely different side after the restart but even so,this didn't prevent the visitors from increasing their lead with a very neatly worked goal; however their lead was reduced within minutes but Lye were unable to force an equalizer and could probably count themselves unlucky to lose the game. If Lye had performed in the first half as they did in the second we could probably be looking at a very different result but all credit to the visitors who probably just about earned the points.

Wulfrunians win a thriller.

⚽Total Motion Midland Football League Premier Div

CKW Stadium

AFC Wulfrunians 2 Lye Town 1

On a cold(but very sunny) November afternoon these two teams gave us 90 minutes of entertaining football played in an excellent spirit, with the hosts leap-frogging their opponents after this result.

In an evenly contested first half, Wulfs played a high-tempo game and just about shaded possession . Following the break the hosts began to take more control of the game and it was no surprise when they eventually took the lead on 50 minutes following some enterprising play from Jumaane Meggoe. On 80 minutes Wulfs increased their lead when Rory Harris scored following a corner(although I doubt he knew much about it !) .The visitors gave it a right good go in the last 15 minutes. and were rewarded with a consolation goal from Lewis Probert in time added on. Lye always looked threatening but Wulfrunians pace up front was hard to combat at times.

Wednesfield go goal-crazy !

⚽West Midlands Regional League Premier Division⚽

Wednesfield 6 Dudley Sports 1

Wednesfield recorded a 7th win in the last eight games and continued their relentless surge up the WMRL table. The result gives the impression the visitors were hammered but that would not be a true reflection of the game as a whole; Sports had their own purple patches during a pulsating game but they paid dearly for their lack of a cutting edge where it mattered most.Possession is meaningless if the ball doesn't finish in the net and  their 'pleasing to the eye' football counted for nothing in the end. On the other hand,Wednesfield certainly knew where the net was and their no nonsense approach paid rich dividends and with a little bit of luck the score could have looked even more embarrassing  for their visitors.
