Next May nobody will remember any of the FA Cup games played nine months previously but don't let anyone tell you these games are insignificant.Let anyone try and tell these 22 players this game didn't matter;it mattered. This was without doubt an absolutely cracking cup-tie.The hosts from WMRL Division 1 against their NPL Division 1 opponents looked a banker away win but it was anything but.The first half was dominated by the hosts who refused to let their opponents settle and were rewarded for their industry with the opening goal midway through the first half and to be honest,looking like they could add to that tally.
Whatever was said at the interval in the visitors' dressing room had a remarkable effect as they now gained the upper hand and scored a couple of goals and looked comfortable.Wednesfield had a player sent off for two yellow cards but this only served to invigorate them and they rescued the game with an equaliser minutes from the end.
The replay should be a belter.

AFC Wulfrunians 0 Coventry Sphinx 2
Wulfrunians were unceremoniously knocked off their lofty perch by a score which doesn't really do justice to a Sphinx side who had all the answers. The home side were well below their usual standard which obviously helped the visitors but take nothing away from Sphinx;they were excellent value for their win and with a bit more luck could have racked up an embarrassing scoreline. A penalty and an excellent finish to a cross from the left were enough to seal the points for a very capable-looking side.

Tipton Town 0 Allscott AFC 1
So,here we go again ; the start of another exciting(hopefully) West Midlands Regional League season and as is usual with teams being promoted/relegated, the league takes on a new look.
On paper this game looked interesting with Allscott the visitors to Tipton Sports Academy and so it turned out.On a blisteringly hot afternoon two very evenly matched sides gave it everything and on a different day there would have been a hatful of goals, given the chances created (and missed) with Tipton being the bigger culprits as their opportunities seemed more clear cut.
We had all accepted a 0-0 scoreline until a couple of minutes from the end when following a goalmouth scramble the ball was despatched to the back of the net. You had to feel for the Tipton lads given the effort they'd shown but credit the Allscott lads who never gave up and in the end it is they who take the points.
Plaudits to both teams for the efforts in what must have been extremely uncomfortable conditions.
