In what should have been a relatively foreseeable result,Wulfs were given a hard time by the visitors who belied their lowly league position with a performance of endeavour and quality. Based on their first-half efforts,it was no more than Athletic deserved when they took the lead just before half-time with the hosts putting in a somewhat subdued showing.
It was a different Wulfs side that showed up for the second half;different inasmuch as much more effort was evident and it paid handsome dividends with an equalizer 5 minutes after the restart with Webb heading home following good work on the right wing. From this point the visitors were under the cosh for long periods but try as they might the hosts were unable to add a second. Their hopes were raised late on when the visitors had a man sent off but conversely this had the effect of inspiring Athletic to go all out for the win which never came.
