Tipton tip-top.

⚽West Midlands Regional League Div 1⚽

Tipton Town 4  Stourport Swifts Development 1

Tipton consolidated their position at the top with a convincing victory against spirited opponents.

The visitors were straight out of the traps, giving the hosts plenty to think about for the first quarter of the match but Tipton gradually took control and just before the break they deservedly opened the scoring through Clifton who was 'Johnny on the spot' to tap home⚽. As already stated, Swifts were'nt there to just make up the numbers, attacking with gusto and defending in numbers.

On the hour mark Town scored a second when Holder hit a 20 yard thunderbastard which was good enough to win any game, so credit to the visitors keeper for getting so  close to it⚽. Tipton were, by now, running the show and it was no surprise when they added a third on 75 minutes, Turner latching onto a ball over the top and ran on to beat the keeper⚽. Swifts were not done though and they were awarded a penalty soon after which was duly despatched⚽. The visitors seemed to gain a second wind late in the game but Town were in mood to give them anything and in the final minutes they added a fourth goal via Piggot⚽.

Commiserations to Swifts who gave a good showing but tp be honest, they were overpowered by the better side on the day.

Bilbrook bag 4.

West Midlands Regional League Div 2

Bilbrook FC  4  Bewdly Town FC Developments 0

Our first visit of the season to the tidy set-up that is Bilbrook FC.

The game was all but settled on the quarter hour when the hosts scored two goals in as many minutes⚽⚽ ; this after the visitors had made a strong start but who were soon on the back foot as Bilbrook took control. Ten minutes later it was three ; the central defender in attempting to clear a high ball, shanked it over his own head, leaving the number 9 to out-battle him and smack the ball home⚽. Bewdly were doing ok in defence and midfield but were found lacking where it mattered, up front.

The visitors looked much more aggressive after the break and Bilbrook found them harder to break down but as in the first session, any goal attempts from them were high, wide and not very handsome. Bilbrook added a fourth goal very late in the game⚽.

A good entertaining game with both sides absolutely committed.

Sporting Khalsa on top form.

         ⚽Northern Premier League Midland Div⚽

Sporting Khalsa 3  Coventry Sphinx 0

We had hardly settled in to watch the game and it was 1-0 to Khalsa, Singh receiving the ball with his back to goal, turned and smacked the ball home after 5 minutes⚽. Was this a sign of things to come ? It certainly seemed so as the hosts tore into their opponents, employing a high press and never giving them an extra second on the ball. It worked up to a point, Khalsa dominating but goal efforts were at a premium. Sphinx withstood everything thrown at them and it wasn't until the later stages of the half that they were able to mount any sort of effort. That said, when they did threaten, the home defence stood firm.

The second period carried on where the first finished, with Khalsa dominating but Sphinx looking a lot livelier and definitely more threatening, but just when it looked like they might just make a game of it, James added a second for the hosts⚽. This was the spark for the hosts to basically kill the game and they piled on relentless pressure, hardly giving the visitors time to breathe. Something had to give and near the end Khalsa netted a third via the irrepressible Robinson, standing 5 yards out, belted the ball into the roof of the net⚽. Game over !

Credit to the visitors for withstanding unbelievable pressure for 70 minutes but Khalsa in this kind of form really do take some stopping. A brilliant game for the neutral.

Red hot Bilston hit 6 !

                          Midland Football League Div 1⚽

Bilston Town Community 6  Wolverhampton Sporting Community 1

Nobody could have forecast this scoreline based on the first 15 minutes as both sides went at it hell for leather at a scorching pace but it was The Steelmen who struck first on 17 minutes⚽. It took 5 minutes for the visitors to reply and what a simple goal it was. A chipped ball over the top received by the number 9( who had made a very cleverly timed run) who beat the keeper to the ball⚽. The hosts increased their lead on 26 minutes following two corners in quick succession⚽ and 10 minutes later, added a third which was solely down to the doggedness of the Steelmen number 8⚽. By now, Bilston were rampant, threatening to score with almost every attack while Sporting were finding it difficult to mount anything serious due to the ferocious opposition midfield. The game was basically over as a contest as we approached half-time with two goals in two minutes from the hosts⚽⚽.

Sporting were better after the break but Bilston were in no mood to give them anything and although they  threatened on a couple of occasions, the keeper wasn't seriously troubled. The hosts added a sixth goal on 66 minutes to complete a miserable afternoon for the visitors⚽.

Tividale edge a dour contest.

                 Midland Football League Premier Div⚽

Tividale 1   Wolves Casuals 0

The first quarter of this dour contest  had the hosts in control without  really posing any genuine goal threat while the visitors were mostly on the back foot and it took them until the latter stages of the half  to muster some sort of real threat. That said, when they were able to mount the occasional attack, they looked the more likely to score . All said, there was a dearth of scoring chances as the teams were cancelling each other out.

Following the break, Casuals were much more on the front foot having probably received a good bollocking for their first-half performance. They enjoyed a good spell of possession and it seemed only a matter of time before they scored but their confidence was dealt a blow on 68 minutes when they had a player red-carded. Just as Tivi could see their way to a result, they also had a player red-carded two minutes later. These two incidents seemed to fire up the game and it was again Casuals looking the more likely but that was short-lived as Tivi were awarded a penalty which was duly despatched⚽.

This was without doubt the most closely fought contest we have seen this season ; it was always going to be settled by one goal and Tivi got it.
