Gornal Colts bag 5 !

                                      NON-LEAGUE DAY ⚽

West Midlands Regional League Div 1

FC Darlaston 2 Gornal Colts 5

A bright start from the home side, paid dividends on 40 minutes when a clever cross from the right caused confusion in the box and the ball was smacked into the net⚽. It was no more than the hosts deserved having been slightly the better side up to that point.

Seven minutes into the second period the visitors were level, the ball being received in the box and seemingly toe-poked home⚽. They had earned their goal, having controlled things from the restart. On the hour mark, the ball was passed to the hosts number 11 on the wide left ; he cut in a couple metres and hit a ball into the box where it evaded everyone and hit the back of the net⚽. Whether it was a pass or shot only he can say.

75 minutes on the clock and Gornal were awarded a stonewall penalty which was duly despatched⚽. By this stage Darlaston seemed to be struggling while the visitors were looking ominous and it was no surprise when 6 minutes later they added a third⚽. Just minutes later things took a turn for the worst when Darlaston were reduced to 10 having a man sent off for retaliation. Gornal added two more goals in the final few minutes which,to be fair, reflected their second half superiority⚽⚽.

Tipton Town improving.

West Midlands (Regional) League Div 1⚽

Played at Tipton Sports Academy

Tipton Town 3  Bromyard Town 0

Improving Tipton leap-frogged their opponents with this result and it was well deserved.

The first half was scrappy, mostly to do with the atrocious conditions, meaning passes often going astray and numerous interruptions for free-kicks. The hosts managed to salvage something with half-time approaching when a pass through the visitors defence(which,it has to be said, had looked fairly solid up to that point) left the Tipton number 10 to basically pass the ball into an open goal⚽, the keeper having slipped on the wet pitch. They deserved their lead having looked the more dangerous side.

Following the break,Tipton came out with all guns blazing and although Bromyard passed the ball around confidently, they lacked a cutting edge up front whereas the hosts looked menacing with every attack. On 65 minutes Tipton increased their lead when a superb cross from the left was headed home⚽. The visitors continued as before but as previously stated, their bright approach play wasn't matched in front of goal and it was no surprise when Tipton added a third on 85 minutes⚽.

Tipton deserved their three points if only for their impressive second half display while Bromyard look to be a decent side who on this occasion fell short in front of goal.

No stopping Dudley Town !

                          ⚽Midland Football League Div 1⚽

Played at The Guardian Warehousing Arena,Noose Lane.

Dudley Town 4  Ingles 0

On a bitterly cold afternoon(which became colder and wetter), the visitors were put to the sword in no uncertain terms by an energetic, skilful and well organised Dudley Town.

The damage began in the 15th minute when Crook received the ball on the left, made his way past two challenges and planted the ball in the top RH corner - a superb piece of individual skill⚽. It was no more than the hosts deserved after being in control from the off.

Things progressed in the same vein until just prior to the break when Town increased their advantage with a wonderfully constructed goal involving at least 4 players and finished off by Jones⚽. To be fair, Ingles hardly had a kick and had not troubled the home keeper.

The second half had only just begun when Town added a third from Danks⚽. Things were shaping up for a rout and a fourth was soon added via Yankson⚽.

This really was a devastating display from the hosts who,on this evidence are destined for better things. The only consoling factor for Ingles is the fact it could have been a greater ignomy and they were beaten by a very good side.

Stourport earn their three points

                    ⚽Midland Football League Premier Div⚽

Played at Castlecroft Stadium

AFC Wulfrunians 1  Stourport Swifts 2

Your typical game of two halves where in the first half Wulfs struggled to string two passes together as a result of the high press Swifts employed and did more than enough in the second half to merit at least a draw, yet finished on the wrong end of the result.

Swifts plan worked well for them in the first half, using a high press forcing Wulfs to just clear their lines which meant the ball more often than not, went straight to an opposing player. The plan paid off handsomely in the eleventh minute. Swifts won a free kick just outside the area and it was superbly despatched just inside the RH post by Chilton⚽. This seemed to spur Wulfs as they upped their game but anything threatening was always collected by the keeper.

The hosts came out for the second with renewed vigour and it was they who were in the ascendency and their enterprising play paid dividends on the hour when Webb received the ball on the left and cut in passed three defenders to rattle the ball home, a superb effort⚽. It appeared Wulfs had gained the upper hand but in their search for a winner they were caught out by a breakaway from the visitors on 68 minutes and Tilbury had the relatively easy job of scoring⚽. Now it was Swifts with the upper hand and try as they might Wulfs were unable to level.

Congrats to the visitors who earned their hard won 3 points ; commiserations to the hosts who can feel hard done by,taking nothing from the game.
