Tipton Town improving.

  18/10/2025

⚽West Midlands Regional League Premier Div

Tipton Town 4  Stourport Swifts Alliance 1

This game didn't take long to come to life with Town forward number 9 turning the defender and curling one into  the far corner in the first minute⚽. Town were having more of it than their opponents and but for some weak finishing, could have had another couple of goals in just the first 20 minutes. Swifts looked fine in midfield and ok in defence but they lacked a cutting edge up front.

15 minutes after the break,Town increased their lead with a header at the far post⚽ ; within a minute of the restart Swifts reduced the arrears. Swifts were repelling all that Town were throwing at them but then gave away a soft penalty which was duly despatched despite  a valiant attempt to save it⚽. Any remote chance of Swifts rescueing anything from the game went out of the window a couple of minutes later when their keeper was red-carded for handling outside the area and from the resulting free-kick,Town added a fourth⚽.

A case could be made for Swifts believing they were better than the score suggests but a counter  to that is the fact they really do struggle in front of goal whereas Town always looked the more threatening.

Wednesfield fight back in local derby.

            ⚽Midland Football League Div 1

Wednesfield Community 1  Bilston Town 1

As local derbies go, this was a bit of a damp squib to begin with ; hard to tell if high-flying visitors Bilston Town were having a bit of an off-day or hosts Wednesfield got their nullifying tactics just right, in front of a bumper crowd. Whatever, the result was a fairly mundane first half with both sides guilty of some glaring misses.

Following the break, things definitely took a turn for the better as the visitors upped their game and were rewarded with a goal on the hour mark ; a goalbound effort was saved, only for the ball to fall at the feet of the visitors number 10(I may be wrong on the player) who    smacked it home⚽. For a while, it looked more likely Bilston would increase their lead but Wednesfield gained a second wind as the game drew to a close and minutes from full-timethey were awarded a penalty which was duly despatched by number 6⚽.

Honours even was probably the right result as neither side really did enough on the day to earn three points.

Wednesfield on the rise.

27/09/2025

                                            Midland League Div 1⚽

Wednesfield Community 2  Allexton & New Parks 1

Prior to this match, these two were down in the depths of the division with the visitors on just 2 points, which is remarkable considering what they produced here today. It was a brilliant game for the neutral as both teams wanted to play football. With 12 minutes on the clock, the visitors took the lead via a mix-up between defender and keeper⚽. On 34 minutes the hosts levelled after some very neat passing⚽. Allexton were playing some very neat football and to be fair were marginally the better team in the first 45.

Things changed following the break with Wednesfield finally getting their act together and looking much more threatening as they continually had the better of the midfield battles and this pressure finally paid off on 70 minutes. From a corner the number 9 rose head and shoulders above everyone else and smacked the ball into the back of the net. The visitors gradually wilted as an attacking force as the game progressed but should be encouraged by their performance here. Wednesfield just about deserved their win if only for a spirited second-half showing.

Apologies for the poor quality of pics. Battery ran down and  forgot to bring a spare !

Telford Town hit 5

20/09/2025

                           North West Counties League

Wolves Casuals 0 Telford Town 5

On a wet afternoon, Casuals were well and truly put to the sword by their high-flying visitors  although the first half was competitive with both sides spurning what few chances there were.

The second half was,to put it mildly, different with Town showing why they are among the Leagues front-runners with a terrific show of attacking football. To be fair the score could have been much higher were it not for the heroics of the home keeper.

Casuals made a game of it first half but were completely overun after the break by an exceptional outfit.
