Wombourne Allstars fill their boots !

 25/04/2026

⚽West Midlands Regional League  Div 1⚽

Wombourne Allstars 9  Tipton Town Development 0

                                                                                                    Played at Wombourne Leisure Centre

A look at the pre-match league table was all anyone would need to figure the outcome of this meeting of teams from opposite ends of said table, a + goal difference of 66 in favour of the hosts. Before we had reached 20 minutes Wombourne were 3 goals to the good which could have been more but for some heroics from the keeper. The young bucks of Tipton did themselves no favours by constantly giving the ball away, a trait which seemed to run right through the team. As the ref blew for half-time,Allstars had added a further 4 goals to lead 7-0.

Following the break, it really was back to much more of the same although to their credit, Tipton were still chasing everything and there was no sign of heads dropping ; it was all to no avail as Allstars added another 2 goals which could have been 10  but for some wayward shooting.

An emphatic and well deserved  win for Wombourne and praise in no small measure, for the young-looking Tipton side who kept going despite taking a hammering.

Sporting Khalsa continue their climb to safety.

 18/04/2026

       ⚽Northern Premier League West Div⚽

Sporting Khalsa 3  Atherton Collieries 0

                                                                                                  Played at Guardian Warehousing Arena

Following a recent welcome upturn in fortunes(2 wins in succession),Khalsa were under pressure to continue the run to move out of the relegation places. They were possibly helped by their opponents resting in mid-table safety.

Atherton started at a blistering pace putting their hosts on the back foot, ensconced in their own half for a good 10 minutes, albeit without actually registering any goal threat. Having endured that opening pressure,Khalsa gradually played themselves into the game and it was they, rather than the visitors who looked more likely to score, so it was no real surprise when they took the lead on 27 minutes, Andre Landell taking advantage of a loose ball from a couple of yards out⚽. With the bit between their teeth Khalsa were all over Atherton whose keeper made a superb save to deny a second goal but just a minute later Jay Tilt used his speed to latch onto an 'over the top ' ball and outrun the defender to smash the ball into the far corner⚽. The visitors held their own in midfield but were struggling to match Khalsas' energy in attack and superb defending in numbers.

Following the break, the visitors were much improved, enjoying plenty of possession without threatening to score as the home defenders put up an impenetrable wall and the feeling was if anyone was going to score it was Khalsa who, when they countered, always looked dangerous, hitting the post twice. On 76 minutes the hosts added a third via Jay Tilt⚽ and that was that really, the visitors going through the motions until the ref called time on proceedings.

Khalsa deserved their win for their energetic display which Atherton could never quite match ; a win which takes them out of the bottom 4 as Congleton lost at Chasetown. Next week decides who stays up and who goes down ;all to play for.

Ingles battered by Bilston....and storm Dave.

 04/04/2026

            ⚽Midland Football League Div 1⚽

Bilston Town 4  Ingles 0

                                                                                                          Played at Queen Street Stadium

The portents of forthcoming storm 'Dave' put paid to anything resembling a football match here,it really was pot-luck where the ball would go when it was kicked.

Town were having their final Saturday 3pm k o of the season before their home crowd and made a great start, netting after 10 minutes via a penalty⚽. The visitors seemed to liven up after conceeding and were matching their opponents possession-wise but that doesn't win games and to be honest, any kind of goal threat was absent from them. The wind was a real nuisance,e g goalkeepers hardly reaching the half-way line with goal-kicks

Following the break things resumed as previous with the visitors doing everything right until the reached the opposition area, whereas the hosts always looked like they had more goals in them and so it proved on 75 minutes when a superb cross from the right was met by Town number 10...he really couldn't miss⚽. The writing was on the wall for the visitors as their hosts gained momentum and a third was added just 5 minutes later with a quick-fire attack catching out the visitors rearguard giving Town number 14 an easy slot home⚽. A minute before time,a poor goal-kick from the keeper straight to Bilston number 10 led to a fourth from number 14⚽.

Bilston deserved their win, their gung-ho style certainly suited to the blustery conditions. Not sure what to say about Ingles really ; on the balance of play, they didn't look 4 goals worse than their opponents but that lack of a goal threat in the area that counts probably was the real reason they got thumped.
