Shifnal take the points in an excellent contest.

           Midland Football League Premier Div

Shifnal Town 2 Stourport Swifts 0

                                                                                              Played at Acoustafoam Stadium,Shifnal

Shifnal were at it from the off against 2nd in the league Stourport and it paid early dividends on 12 minutes. Hesson raced onto a ball over the top, had the edge over the defender and was unceremoniously brought down to hand the hosts an early penalty, despatched by Thomas, and reduce the visitors to 10⚽. This didn't seem to unsettle Swifts too much as they reorganised and continued to go forward. Both teams were  going for it with Town having an edge and the visitors always looking threatening .

The hour mark was incident-laden with Town having a good chance wasted, Town keeper thinking it was good idea to play out against 3 Swift players and losing the ball(lucky for him a defender was on the line to boot the resulting shot away) and Hartnett, for the visitors, being booked (seemingly with a second yellow and a resulting red). The visitors were showing tremendous resilence, resisting everything the hosts could throw at them, that is until 89 minutes when Hesson sent the ball into the rh top corner⚽.

This was by far the best game we have seen so far this season with two skilful sides intent on playing attacking football and giving the spectators full value for money.Credit to Stourport  for giving as good as they got when down to ten men and keeping themselves in the game until the final minutes.

Tipton Town go marching on .

⚽West Midlands Regional League Div 1⚽

Tipton Town 4 Bustlehome 1

                                                                                                              Played at Tipton Sports Academy

Six wins from their first 7 games has given Tipton a solid seasons start and they lead the table. Today was another opportunity to put pressure on the following pack.

The visitors enjoyed plenty of possession during the first 25 minutes although never putting the keeper under serious pressure. Tipton showed them how on 28 minutes, scoring direct from a corner⚽. Although behind, the visitors continued to press but were unable to penetrate the home defence and on 40 minutes the hosts increased their lead when a measured ball over the top was latched onto, the attacker out-muscling the defender and planting a shot in the far corner⚽. The visitors early possession was evaporating rapidly and Tipton added a third before the break, their number 6 receiving the ball from a corner put his laces through to give the keeper no chance⚽.

Following the break Bustlehome  again enjoyed lots of the ball but finding a way through the home defence was proving nigh on impossible with the two Tipton central defenders regularly breaking up play, This was becoming almost a replay of the first half as the hosts weathered the storm, imposed themselves, won a corner and on 85 minutes, added a fourth goal⚽. The visitors gained a consolation goal when, in the dying stages they were awarded a penalty which was duly despatched⚽.

Credit to Tipton for a workman-like display, not forgetting Bustlehome whose contribution added to the enjoyment of the game.

Wednesfield and Chelmsley serve up a treat.

                        Midland Football League Div 1⚽

Wednesfield 1 Chelmsley Town 1

                                                                                                              Played at The Cottage Ground

On a somewhat autumnal-feeling afternoon, we were treated to an exhilarating game of football with both sides having long passages of posession, playing lots of nice football without a goal to show for it, although it has to be said, the visitors looking the more likely. Chelmsley were seemingly content to soak up pressure and hit the hosts on the break and so it was that in the 34th minute they opened the scoring with a text-book goal, a cross from the right, beating all defenders, leaving the attacker to pass the ball into the net⚽. It was no more than they deserved for their enterprising play.

Following the break, the hosts upped their game using the full width of the pitch and were unlucky on a number of occasions, poor finishing being the main reason. Something had to give and in the 80th minute another cross from the right was despatched, the attacker rising above his defender to nod home and level things⚽. Two minutes later Wednesfield had a second which was deemed offside and full credit to them, went looking for a winner but it wasn't to be.

Apologies for the poor quality of pics, camera was on wrong setting

Wulfrunians win a dour contest.

                                            Midland Football League

AFC Wulfrunians 1  Stone Old Alleynians 0

Played at Prestige Midlands Arena

Quite a dour encounter really with not a lot to write about. I would normally be effusive concerning one of the teams involved as to how they upped their game after the break following a poor first half showing but that didn't happen here. The theme throughout the match was one of the visitors knocking the ball about with intricate passing  but no end product whilst the hosts did at times have some energy going forward and as such, were rewarded with the three points ; and that's about it.
