Red hot Bilston hit 6 !

                          Midland Football League Div 1⚽

Bilston Town Community 6  Wolverhampton Sporting Community 1

Nobody could have forecast this scoreline based on the first 15 minutes as both sides went at it hell for leather at a scorching pace but it was The Steelmen who struck first on 17 minutes⚽. It took 5 minutes for the visitors to reply and what a simple goal it was. A chipped ball over the top received by the number 9( who had made a very cleverly timed run) who beat the keeper to the ball⚽. The hosts increased their lead on 26 minutes following two corners in quick succession⚽ and 10 minutes later, added a third which was solely down to the doggedness of the Steelmen number 8⚽. By now, Bilston were rampant, threatening to score with almost every attack while Sporting were finding it difficult to mount anything serious due to the ferocious opposition midfield. The game was basically over as a contest as we approached half-time with two goals in two minutes from the hosts⚽⚽.

Sporting were better after the break but Bilston were in no mood to give them anything and although they  threatened on a couple of occasions, the keeper wasn't seriously troubled. The hosts added a sixth goal on 66 minutes to complete a miserable afternoon for the visitors⚽.

Tividale edge a dour contest.

                 Midland Football League Premier Div⚽

Tividale 1   Wolves Casuals 0

The first quarter of this dour contest  had the hosts in control without  really posing any genuine goal threat while the visitors were mostly on the back foot and it took them until the latter stages of the half  to muster some sort of real threat. That said, when they were able to mount the occasional attack, they looked the more likely to score . All said, there was a dearth of scoring chances as the teams were cancelling each other out.

Following the break, Casuals were much more on the front foot having probably received a good bollocking for their first-half performance. They enjoyed a good spell of possession and it seemed only a matter of time before they scored but their confidence was dealt a blow on 68 minutes when they had a player red-carded. Just as Tivi could see their way to a result, they also had a player red-carded two minutes later. These two incidents seemed to fire up the game and it was again Casuals looking the more likely but that was short-lived as Tivi were awarded a penalty which was duly despatched⚽.

This was without doubt the most closely fought contest we have seen this season ; it was always going to be settled by one goal and Tivi got it.

Wulfrunians and Romulus in an entertaining draw.

                  Midland Football League Premier Div⚽

AFC Wulfrunians 1 Romulus 1

Wulfrunians were at Romulus from the off, hitting the woodwork twice within the first 20 minutes but the visitors were in no mood to give anything away and their defending was something to behold. Apart from the odd breakaway, the visitors rarely threatened and it took until 30 + minutes for them to mount anything serious and that amounted to a disallowed goal for handball but that was the spark for them to liven up and for the rest of the half they looked a lot brighter, hitting the bar from a turn and shot from short range, this being their first real goal attempt.

Romulus started the second period as they'd finished the first, on the front foot and it was they who now looked the most likely. That being the case, it was against the run of play, somewhat, that Wulfrunians took the lead on 65 minutes through Barker who, receiving the ball from the left, had as much time as he wanted to score⚽. Both sides were really going for it and something had to give and so it was on 88 minutes the visitors drew level via an own goal which, it has to be said, they deserved⚽.

A real good game for neutral and partisan alike with both teams fully committed.

Wulfrunians goal feast.

        ⚽Midland Football League  Premier Div⚽

AFC Wulfrunians 6  Bewdley Town 1

The writing looked to be on the wall, for the visitors from the very start as the home side tore into them and the inevitable first goal came in the 10th minute following a goalmouth melee when Wulfrunians Munday smashed the ball home⚽. It wasn't going to improve any time soon and 7 minutes later the hosts added a second, the keeper doing well to parry the first effort but unable to prevent Munday increasing his personal tally⚽. Although under the cosh, the visitors did manage a decent effort on 25 minutes. Munday was unlucky on the half-hour, his hat-trick effort being cleared off the line. The visitors were finding it difficult to mount any sustained pressure and Wulfs added a third around the 40 minute mark, the keeper having no chance when a deflected shot from Digie left him stranded⚽. That was seemingley all the action for the first period until Wulfs were awarded a free kick some 25 yards+ out and Maslen-Jones curled a wonderful shot into the far corner, the keeper tipping the ball onto the post  and into the net⚽.

The visitors needed to improve on their first half showing ; they did show much more at the start of the second and were rewarded with a goal on 66 minutes from Richards⚽. Alas, it was all to no avail as a couple of minutes later Chilton beat the keeper at the other end⚽. The scoring was completed on 90 minutes when Wulfrunians were awarded a penalty which was duly converted by Bright⚽.

Wulfrunians were well worth their win although it has to be said the visitors didn't really turn up until the second period where they did threaten for a brief spell
