Tipton Town improving.

  18/10/2025

⚽West Midlands Regional League Premier Div

Tipton Town 4  Stourport Swifts Alliance 1

This game didn't take long to come to life with Town forward number 9 turning the defender and curling one into  the far corner in the first minute⚽. Town were having more of it than their opponents and but for some weak finishing, could have had another couple of goals in just the first 20 minutes. Swifts looked fine in midfield and ok in defence but they lacked a cutting edge up front.

15 minutes after the break,Town increased their lead with a header at the far post⚽ ; within a minute of the restart Swifts reduced the arrears. Swifts were repelling all that Town were throwing at them but then gave away a soft penalty which was duly despatched despite  a valiant attempt to save it⚽. Any remote chance of Swifts rescueing anything from the game went out of the window a couple of minutes later when their keeper was red-carded for handling outside the area and from the resulting free-kick,Town added a fourth⚽.

A case could be made for Swifts believing they were better than the score suggests but a counter  to that is the fact they really do struggle in front of goal whereas Town always looked the more threatening.

Wednesfield fight back in local derby.

            ⚽Midland Football League Div 1

Wednesfield Community 1  Bilston Town 1

As local derbies go, this was a bit of a damp squib to begin with ; hard to tell if high-flying visitors Bilston Town were having a bit of an off-day or hosts Wednesfield got their nullifying tactics just right, in front of a bumper crowd. Whatever, the result was a fairly mundane first half with both sides guilty of some glaring misses.

Following the break, things definitely took a turn for the better as the visitors upped their game and were rewarded with a goal on the hour mark ; a goalbound effort was saved, only for the ball to fall at the feet of the visitors number 10(I may be wrong on the player) who    smacked it home⚽. For a while, it looked more likely Bilston would increase their lead but Wednesfield gained a second wind as the game drew to a close and minutes from full-timethey were awarded a penalty which was duly despatched by number 6⚽.

Honours even was probably the right result as neither side really did enough on the day to earn three points.
