Tipton leave it late !

                     Midland Football Alliance
                        Tipton Town v Quorn

The weather played a blinder this week leaving a very limited choice of games but this game certainly appealed,5th versus 2nd.The first half was largely forgettable as both sides battled to overcome a brisk wind and a sticky pitch which the visitors seemed to handle a little better than their hosts, goal attempts being few and far between. Quorn looked lively and were quick to defend and attack.

Hal-time Tipton 0 Quorn 0

Quorn started the half on the front foot having the lions' share of possession but again, without really troubling the goalkeeper. As the half wore on the wind seemed to ease ,things were warming up on the pitch and a goal seemed in the offing and it duly came about the hour mark, the ball being prodded home from close range by the visitors. Tipton were playing ok but seemed to be struggling for a shot on goal and they were again punished for this 10 minutes later when Reed beat the defender to the ball on the half-way line and weaved his way passed two defenders to score .Classy. Shortly after,it could have been three but for Pemberton in the home goal. Game over,or so it seemed. Tipton had other ideas and following substitutions they mounted sustained pressure on the Quorn goal and got their just rewards with a goal 5 minutes from time. Quorn were forced into desperate defending, hoofing the ball anywhere as Tipton had the bit between their teeth, shots raining in from all angles. The Tipton pressure looked in vain as injury time ran down but up popped Waterhouse in the final minute to gain a deserved equaliser for town. Indeed Tipton could and should have won it with the amount of shots on goal in the final 10 minutes but a draw was a fair result.

The visitors number 6(don't know his name sorry, no programme) was all over the pitch and looks a great prospect. For Tipton credit must go to the whole team for never giving in when all seemed lost.

What started as a rather dull encounter(no fault of the players) served us an exciting finish. Well done to both teams for their efforts in very trying and tiring conditions.
