Wulfs suffer grief against Griff

FA Vase

AFC Wulfrunians 2  Nuneaton Griff 3

The festive season doesn't half interfere with my football. It feels like I've not seen a game for months whereas in reality it's  probably been about 3 weeks. Wulfrunians welcomed to Castlecroft, Midland Football League Division 1 opponents Nuneaton Griff for todays' FA Vase clash played in continuous rain which turned to a deluge as the game went on.

Wulfs were left shell-shocked when inside the first 8 minutes Griff were 2-0 ahead and looking for a third when an innocuous-looking high cross was dropped by the visiting keeper right in front of Brady who only needed to tap it into the net. This seemed to halt somewhat the visitors' rampaging forward play and it was no surprise when Wulfs drew level via an inspired run from Sedgemore whos' through ball was superbly dispatched by Brady.

The second half had barely got going when, from a corner, Millerchip rose head and shoulders above everyone to put the visitors in front again. The remainder of the game mainly belonged to Wulfs but try as they might they could not breach a well-drilled ,thoroughly organized visiting defence in which the keeper was outstanding. The visitors goal difference is only bettered by table-topping Hereford in the whole of the Midland Football League.

All in all a thoroughly entertaining game played in atrocious conditions ,so well done to all concerned.
