A Game of three halves

Pre-season friendly

Bilston Town v Rushall Olympic

I do wish players would pay attention. Have they not learnt anything from the World Cup ? Don't they know ;

a) When tackled you're supposed to drop, screaming out loud, like you've been shot by a bloody sniper and then roll over three times(Tip;just watch video replays of Mr Messi and you'll soon get the hang of it).

b)Kick the living shit out of the opposition(Tip : watch any Brazil game).

c)Badger the ref on every decision,until he doesn't know whether he's coming or going(Tip; as above).

Seriously, this was a welcome return to a brand of football long forgotten by the prima-donnas on show in Brazil. This is the kind of football that matters.This is the kind of game where non of the above was evident.Being a pre-season friendly the result was secondary really but you wouldn't know it from the endeavour displayed by both sets of players.They wanted to win,friendly or not.

Despite being from much lower in the pyramid, Bilston took the lead early on and could have added a second.Olympic had their chances but were held until later in the game when superior fitness showed and they took control and won the game 4-1.Being a very warm,humid day,common sense prevailed and the game was played in 3 x 30 slots allowing players and officials to take on fluids.

You have to hand it to Bilston. This is a real community club. Following a recent  break-in at the club causing £8,000 worth of damage, everyone rallied round with building materials and peoples' time being donated and a fund-raising evening planned. A line in the programme says it all really ; " We'm Bilston and we won't be beaten."

Bloody hell,whatever is that stink on my finger ?
