This was a dour encounter indeed with each cancelling out the other. The early exchanges favoured Casuals but their lack of a cutting edge was plain to see as good build-up play was repeatedly let down by poor finishing. On 25 minutes, Romulus took the lead when, following a promising attack, the home keeper could'nt hold on to a rasping shot and the resulting dropped ball ended up in the back of the net⚽ This seemed to spur the visitors and they went looking for a second but the home defence held firm.
The second half was mainly a story of the visitors putting 10 men behind the ball and saying to Casuals 'break us down..if you can' and try as they might, the hosts were unable to do just that. Casuals were almost caught out on a couple of occasions as the visitors broke but the writing was on the wall for all to see.
Casual will probably feel hard done by with the effort they exerted, and nothing to show for it but credit to Romulus for their sterling defensive work.
