Terrific attacking display from Oldbury bags the points

West Midlands Regional League  Div 1

Oldbury United 4  PS Olympic 2

                                                                                                           Played at Tipton Sports Academy

On a bitterly cold afternoon these two sides served up a treat of attacking football with the hosts putting high-flying Olympic to the sword.

Defence was certainly not on the minds of these two teams as they went at each other straight from the kick-off and it was Oldbury  who struck first ; their number 9 received the ball on the half-way line and outran the defender to put the ball past the keeper. Superb. 💥⚽

The game continued end to end  and on 40 minutes Olympic drew level from a good move resulting in number 10 easily beating the keeper 💥⚽

Just before the break Oldbury regained the lead through 'Johnny-on- the-spot' Number 9 for his and the teams' 2nd goal💥⚽

On the hour, following a scintillating start to the half, Oldbury were awarded a penalty, duly despatched by number 9 to complete his hat-trick(which, to be fair , he deserved)💥⚽

Oldbury were on fire and on 73 minutes added a fourth following a corner(difficult to see who scored, either 6 or 8)💥⚽. Olympic were in danger of being overun, such was the superiority of their opponents but confounded us all by reducing the arrears on 82 minutes ; their number 10 had the easiest header he'll have all season to nod the ball home from a superb cross💥⚽.

This was a real good game for fan and neutral alike ; another example of the sort of attacking football rarely seen on tv.
