Wolverhampton Casuals 3 Studley 1
Played at Brinsford Stadium
Studley( the bulk of which were 16-17 year olds), played their part in this highly entertaining game. They more than held their own against Casuals bigger, seasoned players,defending well, building their attacks confidently through midfield but eventually failing where it mattered most...in front of goal. Time and again they passed their way towards the opposition goal until meeting the brick wall that was Casuals defence. Casuals, on the other hand had 3 or 4 really good efforts but the Studley keeper pulled off some incredible saves.
Experience eventually told on 68 minutes when,following a corner, number 14 poked the ball in⚽, adding a second 5 minutes later following a superb parry from the keeper,bundling the ball in⚽. The visitors kept going but just 3 minutes later the game was all but settled when number 5(Kirk) added a third⚽. The visitors did manage a consolation goal on 91 minutes with a tap-in⚽.
Casuals deserved their win because they always looked likely to score whereas Studley played some really nice football but rarely looked threatening in front of goal.
