No 'end of season' bore, this one.

         West Midlands(Regional)League.Premier Division

Wolverhampton Sporting Community v Pegasus Juniors

Meet and greet time again !
WSC were looking to build on their recent good form as they took on opponents whose recent results include a win against AFC Wulfrunians. Pegasus were first to make the running and looked strong in midfield but it soon became obvious the home team were no pushovers and their front pair were causing the visitors  one or two problems.
Visitors under pressure.

WSC under pressure !The conditions(a bone-hard pitch and a swirling wind) made it nigh-on impossible to produce any controlled football and both sides were prone to errors.Any shots on goal were being carried wide by the strong breeze.

Half-time; WSC 0 Pegasus Juniors 0

A nice touch at the break.Pete and me were enjoying our hot drink when we were invited into the food lounge to help with the removal of the buffet(via our gobs !).Pegasus resumed with plenty of possession and it was from this they gained a penalty when a defender did a Louis Suarez(no,he didn't bite anyone,he handled a goal-bound shot) and was given his marching orders.
That's the one, hanging his head in shame !

Lo and behold,a la Suarez incident, the resulting penalty was brilliantly saved by the home goalkeeper. The visitors were now well on top and it was no surprise when they took the lead when a rebound was fired home. Pegasus went for the killer goal but the home defence was equal to everything thrown at them and gradually they began to exert pressure of their own and were also thwarted by their opponents defence. It was during this spell of pressure WSC were awarded their own penalty and duly scored.

The second half was much better as both sets of players adapted to the conditions and the final quarter of the game could have gone either way.

A thoroughly entertaining game and praise given to both teams for their efforts when there was nothing at stake except team pride. And thanks to the home teams' provision of grub.
