Lye put Star to the sword.

Midland Football League Premier Division

Lye Town 5 Continental Star 1

I have to admit I was surprised to see this game was on,given the crap weather we've experienced this last week, culminating in waking up this morning to a covering of snow !
Lye appear to be a progressive outfit, seamlessly adapting to life in a higher league and it took them exactly 3 minutes to get their noses in front. The visitors, whilst  admirably trying to play it out from the back, were too often caught in possession and on 20 minutes they were caught out again as Lye increased their lead and added another before half-time.Within 5 minutes of the restart it was 4-0.Star are no mugs and certainly try to play the 'right' way;they don't 'hoof' it,they try to keep it down and pass and move but in their opponents, they were up against a strong side who were always that yard quicker. It was some sort of reward for their style of play when they reduced the arrears with a goal of their own but the hosts quickly restored their 4 goal advantage.

This was a decent game, not helped by a glue-pot of a pitch, played in a good spirit and enjoyed by this neutral spectator.
