A game of three halves !

              West Midlands Regional League.Premier Division

                            Sporting Khalsa v Lye Town

This was, without doubt the game of the day in the WMRL ; the most improved team in the league playing host to annual pace-setters Lye Town.We were not let down, there was no anti-climax,it was a real good game for the neutral. For the first 15 minutes Khalsa just shaded it with some bright, inventive, attacking football and could have taken the lead but then .............calamity !  Due to an injury sustained by the ref, play was held up for the best part of 30 minutes. Once the officials were sorted out, play resumed and for a while Lye were in almost total control,Khalsa finding it difficult to get out of their own half and the visitors this time being unlucky. Khalsa regained their composure and  organised themselves.

Half-time ; Sporting Khalsa 0 Lye Town 0

Little changed in the second half although it has to be said,Lye had the best scoring chances which were either spurned or well-defended.Lye are a very good side and it's a measure of how much SK have improved that they look more than comfortable at this level.

There's not really much more to say other than it was a terrific game played in the right spirit.

I feel I must mention Jordan Uppal of SK.He had a superb game, hardly put a foot wrong and was my MOTM.He looks capable of a higher level and I bet SK hope he does it with them ! This ground is taking on the shape and feel of a much higher grade. Fair play to all involved.
Things are now beginning to hot up at the top of the league and with lots of previously postponed games still to be played,it could get very interesting indeed.
