Wulfs find their fangs.

               Midland Football Alliance   22/3/2014

                          AFC Wulfrunians v Quorn

My mate deserted me this week in favour of Shrewsbury Town v Bradford City. He'll be back next week 'cos I know he'll need his feed of Proper Football. I don't know what the Town game was like but this was well worth watching. The visitors,Quorn are battling Tividale for the title and this was the first time I'd seen them and they do look a very good side while Wulfrunians seem to be on the march again following a dodgy run of results.

Wulfs could have been two goals to the good inside the first ten minutes bar some incredible last-ditch defending but Quorn soon found their feet and their midfield were impressive in controlling Wulfs' attacks. However, they didn't have things all their own way and the hosts always looked dangerous breaking from defence. Wulfs were undone on the half-hour by some slack marking, a ball swung in from the left gave the Quorn forward all the time and space needed to slot home. The visitors pressed for a second goal and enjoyed a relatively comfortable remainder of the first half.

Half-time ; AFC Wulfrunians 0 Quorn 1

Wulfrunians were much improved at the start of the second half and on 52 minutes were awarded a penalty, swiftly dispatched by Sedgemore. The hosts were now a different side, the goal seeming to re-invigorate them and they went at Quorn with a vengeance, more than once looking like they would take the lead. Indeed, the Wulfrunians equaliser made what was already a good game, even better and it was hard to pick a winner. Just when you thought the hosts would score, the visitors would break away at speed and look like scoring themselves.

A thoroughly entertaining game, played in good spirit was let down by far too many interruptions. This is the sort of football people will come to watch in the future when they tire of the money,BS and play-acting in the PL. Congratulations to both teams for a bloody good game.

This looks a bit iffy
