FA Cup

                                 AFC Wulfrunians v Walsall Wood

                                    FA Cup 1st Qualifying Round

The sun was out, there was a slight 'nip' in the air and it was FA cup day again.
This was a brilliant game to watch.Blood and thunder and not a hint of anything nasty from either side.WW had Wulfs on the back foot from the word go.They could and should have been at least 2 if not 3 goals to the good in the first fifteen minutes.Wulfs had goalkeeper Tipton to thank for keeping them in the game despite sustained pressure from Wood.It took 30 minutes before Wulfs got to grips with the visitors game-plan which had basically been to control midfield and had been executed perfectly. From then on the home team were involved much more and by half-time the match had become more evenly contested, although the visitors could count themselves unlucky to still be on level terms based on their earlier performance.

Half-time; AFC Wulfrunians 0 Walsall Wood 0

Wulfs began the second half  more positively by closing down the visitors and as a result, saw much more of the ball.Indeed,it was now they who were calling the shots although Wood were still dangerous. The first goal should be shown on MOTD.From a Wulfs' corner, the ball was headed across the goalmouth and Asbury fired the ball into the top RH corner.......off the back of his heel !

This seemed to galvanise both sides with the home side having a slide edge for a time.As the game drew to a close Wood threw everything at the home team and gained their just reward with a headed goal from Stone. It was no more than they deserved and the two teams meet again on Tuesday evening for a replay. If this game was anything to go by,it should be an absolute belter!
