FA Vase

Wednesfield v Pilkington XXX  FA Vase 13/14

The Midland Combination visitors were the stronger, more organised side in the first half . Wednesfield were often found winning the ball in midfield with no-one up front to recieve.

It really was no surprise when Pilkington took the lead following a bout of head-tennis and they might have finished the half further in front had luck gone their way.

Half-time Wednesfield 0 Pilkington 1

That's what I call a pair of boots !

The home team came out resurgent and took the game to the visitors but again were found wanting at the business end. Pilkington were content to leave one man upfield and defend their lead and this policy paid dividends when from a break-away they scored a second goal.

To their credit,Wednesfield perservered and were awarded a penalty. 1-2...game on !

The home side reduce the arrears(there's them boots again !)

The visitors ploy of sending the ball to the corners to waste time almost found them out on a couple of occasions but they were able to ride the storm and they now move on to the second round.

All round,a good, entertaining game.Good luck to Pilkington XXX in the next round.
